Author Visits Malvern Elementary Author Mardi Edwards visited Malvern Elementary Kindergarten and First Grade Classrooms Monday morning to read her book, The Shabby Tabby. Mardi is a retired Jackson Local teacher and a great friend of former Brown Local Superintendent Connie Griffin. The Shabby Tabby is the story of a cat who found a home inside an elementary school and is based on true stories from Mardi’s career as an elementary teacher. Results to the Tuslaw Invite (10/5/23) Gooooo hornets!! Your favorite running hornets did great at the Tuslaw invite today! 3 athletes placed in the top 15 and medled! Dalton Pennington - HS boys race (13th/104) Emma Maher - HS girls race (10th/60) Olivia Maher - Jr.High girls race (10th/95) Top 15 medal Boys placed 7th/11 teams Cooper Dorr - 23rd/104 hs boys Noah White - 34th/104 hs boys Jacob McClelland - 48th/104 boys Ethan Grossi - 61st/104 boys Rayne Theiss - 35th/60 hs girls Leah Irvine - 38th/60 hs girls Lexus Buchman - 43rd/60 hs girls Although the boys had a rough start to the race they finished strong. Cooper Dorr ran an excellent 2nd part of the race and Noah and Jacob both seem to be motivated to get better each week! Ethan did a great job bringing the positivity for the boys. Dalton ran a consistent race throughout! Rayne had an excellent finish to the race and Leah and Lexus both improved their time from last year by 3 minutes! Emma also improved her time from last year by a minute and a half! Olivia ran a smart race and had a fantastic kick at the end! ⛳️ Congratulations to the Malvern Hornets Golf Team as they finished the season today by competing in the Boys and Girls District Tournaments! The boys finished 6th as a team shooting a 372 at River Greens. Junior Cam Good fired an 84 while Sophomore Cooper Kiehl shot an 89. ⛳️ The girls finished 9th and 15th individually as Senior Lauren Brown shot an 86 while Junior Kami Rayborn shot a 90 at Cambridge Country Club. Results of the Cambridge Invite (9/28/24) The running hornets put dreams of homecoming aside for a brief moment and kicked butt at the Cambridge Invite today! The boys danced their way into 3rd place overall as a team (out of 7) and the girls cha cha slid into the 7th overall spot as a team (out of 12) *girls did race in the hs girls large division this week to ensure they had plenty of time to prepare for homecoming! Hs girls: Emma Maher placed 17/93 girls and medled for the girls (top 25) Mya doughty ran another season best - 2nd in 2 weeks and placed 35/93 girls Lexus Buchman finished in the 3rd spot, running a great race and finishing 63/93 girls Leah Irvine ran in the 4th spot and places 64/93 girls Rayne Theiss finished out the girls team, placing 65/93 girls Hs boys: Dalton Pennington medled in the boys race, placing 14/68 boys Copper Dorr ran 2nd for the hornets and also medled, placing 21/68 boys Noah White was in the 3rd spot, 20:02, and also medled, placing 23/68 boys Jacob McClelland was next for the hs boys, placing 31/68 boys Ethan Grossi rounded out the hornet boys with a placing 44/68 boys! Jr.high girls Olivia Maher medaled and placed 21/82 and ran a lifetime PR!! We want to wish all students at Malvern a fun/ safe time at homecoming this evening and especially our amazing Cross country and track and field athletes!! Go hornets!!
