Brown Local Schools Celebrate Outstanding Educators at Annual Education Celebration

North Canton, OH — April 30, 2025 — At the Stark County Educational Service Center's annual Education Celebration, held at the Kent State Stark Conference Center, Brown Local Schools proudly honored two of its exceptional educators: Jenna May as Rookie Teacher of the Year and Llyn Simpson as Brown Local Teacher of the Year.

Mrs. Llyn Simpson, an educator with 31 years of service, was recognized for her long-standing dedication to the students of Brown Local Schools. A graduate of Kent State University, Mrs. Simpson currently teaches fourth-grade math, science, and social studies at Malvern Elementary. She has taken on numerous leadership roles throughout her career, including being selected as a Stark County ESC ACE Lead Educator and serving as a Grade 5 and 6 Rubrics Validation Committee Member for the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce.

In addition to her teaching responsibilities, Mrs. Simpson is an active member of the district and building leadership teams and a Graduate School Ambassador for the University of Mount Union.

“Mrs. Simpson is a dedicated and loyal teacher to our school district,” said Superintendent Mark Scott. “She partners with families, is a dedicated and enthusiastic teacher, has outstanding communication skills, and makes every minute count in the classroom. We are thrilled to honor her as our Teacher of the Year.”

Jenna May was also recognized as Rookie Teacher of the Year. Mrs. May, a 2024 graduate of Malone University, is in her second year as an intervention specialist at Malvern Elementary School. Her passion for student success earned her this recognition among the county’s newest educators.

Brown Local Schools celebrates the contributions of both Mrs. Simpson and Ms. May, whose hard work and commitment exemplify the district’s mission to foster educational excellence.
