Brown Local Schools Administration Attends National Student Success Conference On February 25-26, Brown Local Schools Administration had the great opportunity to attend the 2025 National Student Support Success Systems Conference held in downtown Indianapolis, Indiana, through the Grad Partnership. The opportunity was completely grant-funded. Student success systems organize a school community to better support the academic progress, college and career transitions, and well-being of all students. By focusing on relationships, actionable data, and evidence-based practices, student success systems help educators and communities build a sense of belonging and school connection among students, address school-wide achievement patterns, and meet individual student needs. The GRAD Partnership for Student Success is a collaborative effort involving nonprofits, community organizations, school districts, and schools, which seeks to co-create effective student success systems with school leaders, teachers, students, parents, and community members. According to Curriculum Brown Local Support Specialist Thea Lehotay, "I enjoyed collaborating with school leaders across the country who are building student success systems. Their insights and strategies into this work are very valuable to us." Brown Local Curriculum and Special Education Director Dawn Kaufman shared, "This conference was very inspiring. It was a great opportunity to network and learn from school leaders across the nation as we implement effective student success systems at Malvern High School." Brown Local Schools has experienced much success recently. This past year, they improved their district rating from three stars to 3.5. Malvern Elementary was recently recognized by the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce for earning the prestigious Momentum Award. The District Leadership Team continues to focus on student success systems to increase student achievement, engagement, and attendance.

Malvern High School Sophomores Attend JA Inspire Event at Pro Football Hall of Fame It is a Great Day to be a Malvern Hornet! CANTON, OH – Malvern High School sophomores recently had an incredible opportunity to attend the Junior Achievement (JA) Inspire Event at the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The event, which brought together more than 3,000 students from seven counties, provided a career exploration experience to help students connect their current education to their future career aspirations. The 2025 JA Inspire Program is a unique initiative that enables students to explore a variety of career paths and gain valuable insight into industries within Northeast Ohio. This program encourages students to make informed decisions about their education and career paths, understanding how their choices today can shape their professional futures. JA Inspire, made possible through the generous sponsorship of FirstEnergy, offers a dynamic two-hour student experience beyond the classroom. In addition to utilizing the JA Inspire curriculum to match students' interests and skills with real-world careers, the event emphasized the importance of soft skills and goal-setting. One of the key highlights of the event was the opportunity for students to engage directly with local employers and businesses. These hands-on experiences allowed students to gain practical knowledge about different industries, network with professionals, and explore career opportunities that align with their passions. The JA Inspire Event continues to be an impactful experience for students across the region, helping them bridge the gap between their educational journey and the professional world.
