SENIOR WINTER SPORTS RECOGNITION

Cheerleading

Abby Moody - Abby is walking with her parents, Gary and Pam Moody.  Abby lettered for the 3rd time in Cheerleading and Volleyball, where she earned District 5 Honorable Mention.  Abby also earned 2 letters in track.  She is a member of the National Honor Society, Student Council Leadership Team, Peer Partners, and Big Brothers Big Sisters.  Abby plans to attend La Roche University, majoring in Pre-Med and continuing her volleyball career.

Eve Richard - Eve is escorted this evening by her parents, Tracy and Brian Richard, along with her step mother Crystal Richard.  Eve earned her 3rd letter in Cheerleading and lettered for the 1st time in volleyball in the fall.  She is a member of the National Honor Society, Student Council, Her Club, Pep Club, Science Club, and the Carroll County Resilience Team.  Eve plans to go to the Autumn College of Nursing.

Katrina Slider - Katrina is walking with her parents, Michael and Nikki Slider, this evening.  She is a 3 year letter winner in Cheerleading.  Katrina attends RG Drage Career Center and is in the Early Childhood Education program.  She works early placement at Sandy Valley’s Preschool.   Katrina plans to attend college and major in Early Childhood Education.

Meigan Smith - Meigan is with her mother, Tiffany Smith and Jason McKelley and her father Chris Smith and Kenna Muntz Dalton.  Meigan will letter in Cheerleading for the 1st time.  She is a member of Student Council and Yearbook.  After graduation from Malvern High School, Meigan plans on attending Kent State for Elementary Education.

Basketball

J’Allen Barrino - J’Allen is being escorted onto the court by his parent, Latoia and Raymond Strain.  J’Allen will be a 4 year letter winner in basketball, where he was last year’s IVC North Player of the Year.  He also lettered last year in Track, where he was a District Champion.  J’Allen attends RG Drage Career Center and is in the Sports Medicine program.  After graduation, he plans to attend college and continue his basketball career.  Coach Tucci says “J’Allen is quite a kid.  He has been a fantastic player for the Hornets.  J’Allen is so unselfish, and he always puts the team first.  J’Allen is a player that affects the game on offense and defense.  He has a bright future as a college basketball player.  J’Allen has played in 55 games at Malvern.  Our record in those 55 games is 52-3”.

#10 J’Allen Barrino

Mitchell Minor - Mitchell is being escorted onto the court by his parents, Jessie and Mike Minor.  Mitchell will be a 3 year letter winner in basketball, where he was an IVC North 1st Team selection a year ago.  Mitchell also earned a letter in football.  He is a member of Big Brothers, Big Sisters and a member of the Malvern First Christian Church.  Mitchell also attends RG Drage Career Center and is in the Sports Turf and Landscaping program.  After graduation, he plans to attend college and continue his basketball career.  Coach Tucci says “Mitchell has been a major player for the Hornets since his sophomore season.  He is one of the better shooters that have ever worn the green and white.  Mitch has had many individual honors, and he is hoping to finish his career with his teammates by winning a few championships.  I am proud of him for working on his game and trying to become a complete player.  The best is yet to come for Mitch”.

#21 Mitchell Minor

Dylan Phillips - Dylan is walking with his parents, Elizabeth and Todd Phillips.  Dylan will be a 3 year letter winner in basketball, where he was named to the IVC 2nd Team a year ago.  Dylan was a 3 year letter winner in baseball and earned 4 letters in football, where he was named IVC North Player of the Year.  Dylan is a member of Peer Partners here at Malvern High School.  He plans to attend online college and major in Marketing Management and enter the workforce.  Coach Tucci says “Dylan is our senior that excels in other sports at Malvern.  We are so proud of his success on the football field.  Just like J’Allen and Mitch, he has won a lot of games for the Malvern Hornets.  Dylan does a little bit of everything for us.  I am proud of Dylan for always being a good teammate and leading our younger guys in our pre-practice drills.  He has been a stabiling force for us.  Dylan is also looking forward to the tournament trail to see how far these 3 seniors can take us.

We want to wish Abby, Eve, Katrina, Meigan, J’Allen, Mitchell, and Dylan the best of luck during the postseason basketball tournament and the remainder of their senior year at Malvern High School and RG Drage Career Center.
