Teen ROADeo

Safe Communities Carroll County conducted its 2nd Annual Teen ROADeo in Carroll County, on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 from 8:30 am to 2:00 pm at Lake Mohawk’s Main Beach Clubhouse in Malvern, Ohio.  This event was coordinated by Safe Communities Carroll County (led by the Carroll County General Health District) and law enforcement, which included deputies of the Carroll County Sheriff’s office and State Highway patrolmen.

Six senior students were selected from our school to comprise our Malvern team.  They were:  Jordan Browning, Jaret Majestic, Paige Elder, Jack Naiman, Hunter Martin and Sarah Flagg.  This year, they were accompanied by Mrs. Sudie Yoder, Malvern High School Secretary.

Each student took a 100 multiple choice test which assessed the knowledge of how well young drivers know the rules and laws of the road.  Then the second part of the day, the students were tested of their driving schools.  This included 5 maneuverability scenarios such as, the serpentine, left parallel park, right parallel park, star and backing/lane change.

Five schools were involved – Carrollton High School, Minerva High School, Buckeye Career Center, Conotton Valley and Malvern High School.  Prizes were given and all students enjoyed a wonderful lunch.

Winners from Malvern High School were Jaret Majestic and Jordan Browning, each receiving a $50.00 gas card.  Malvern High School was awarded the Most Outstanding Poster.  The poster will be made into a banner and used at other Carroll County functions.
